PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Stone Mountain is a wilderness based school, which uses Cognitive-behavioral and Experiential Education as its program Model. By blending the components of group process and positive peer culture, we bring about a more positive outlook on life, family, and each students ability to succeed. We also build on the natural aspects of outdoor living to emphasize improved communication skills, problem solving ability, teamwork, self-reliance, and trust. Our adventure-based experiential model plays a large part in rebuilding a students self-image. Students live in small groups (10 or smaller) under 24-hour supervision. Students design and assist in the construction of their shelters and campsite. Meals are provided in the dining hall Mon.Fri., with students preparing meals in campsite on weekends. The typical day includes morning chores, school, work time, recreation, study time, and evening group. |
